Job Requirements of Operating Room RN at US Embassy in Bagdad:
- Prepare the operating room for surgery
- Prepare patient and equipment/room for surgical procedures
- Direct patient care in an individual operating room
- Provide direct patient care in the operating room
- Overseeing patient care activities in the operating room
- Assess operating room conditions, including patient and surgical team
- Perform as a scrub nurse
- Maintain supplies in assigned operating room
- Adhere to operating room sanitation policy/procedures
- Serving as scrub nurse during operations, and maintenance of operating room instruments and equipment following surgery
- Assess operating room conditions, including patient, and surgical team
- Extending the hands and arms in any direction
- Assess operating room conditions, including patient and surgical team
- Coordinate the operating room and associated departments
- Assist in operating room staff development and education
- Provide nursing care to the patient undergoing surgical procedures
- Assess operating room for equipment functioning and readiness
- Perform circulation and/or scrub nurse duties
- Provide supervisory responsibilities to staff in the operating room
- Maintain traffic patterns in operating room and departmentBasic Requirements / Certifications/License:
- Minimum 6 months OR experience in the last year, Minimum 2 years of RN experience in the past two years
- Current BLS certification
- U.S. Citizenship required (for embassy clearance)
- Valid U.S. Passport with at least 18 months remaining
- Current unencumbered license as a Registered Nurse for any state within the 50 states, including Puerto Rico, Virgin Islands
Desired Experience:
- Provide OR Nurse coverage for patients in the acute and intensive care settings, short stay unit, acute and chronic pain management services.
- Other additional experience.
Physical Requirements:
- Must meet pre-deployment physical requirements
- Ability to stand or sit for prolonged periods; occasional lifting up to 25 lbs
Other Special Qualifications:
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance (MRPT)
- Must be able to relocate to Baghdad, Iraq for the duration of the assignment (lodging at the Embassy compound)
- Proficiency in English (reading, writing, speaking)

OR Registered Nurses
for an overseas opportunity at
the U.S. Embassy Compound-Bagdad, Iraq
Position Overview:
Sterling Medical is seeking a skilled Operating Room Nurse for a unique 1-year assignment at the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad, Iraq. This exclusive opportunity allows you to perform and support the health and well-being of Embassy personnel in a secure environment, all while receiving exceptional compensation and benefits.
Assignment Details:
- Location: Baghdad, Iraq – on-site at the U.S. Embassy Compound
- Length: 160-day contract (with 20 days off)
- Schedule: 60 hours per week | 6 days on / 1 day off
- Lodging: Fully furnished accommodations at the Embassy Compound
- Meals: Provided at the Embassy Compound
OVERTIME Pay FOR HOURS OVER 40 ( 40 Reg. + 20 OT)
