Job Requirements of Histology Technicians:
- Prepare chemical solutions for histology
- Perform routine and complex histology procedures utilized in pathology diagnosis
- Embed all types of tissue specimens
- Prepare histology material for pathologist review
- Perform basic histology special staining procedures
- Provide service in anatomic pathology
- Record and retrieve pathology data
- Provide the technical component for anatomical pathology (surgical pathology, cytopathology)
- Prepare histology specimens for microscopic examination and analysis by Pathologists
- Perform basic histology manual special stain procedures
- Prepare tissue specimens for routine and special examinations
- Retrieve cytopathology and surgical pathology slides
- Prepare tissue specimens for a variety of diagnostic procedures
- Maintain a clean laboratory space and histology equipment
- Prepare slides of tissue specimens for pathologist's examination
- Perform basic histology procedures (embedding, microtomy)
- Produce histology materials at or above productivity standards
- Performing routine and complex histology and immunohistochemistry procedures on tissue and related surgical specimens submitted for histological examination
- Embed, cuts, labels and stains tissue specimens
- Perform anatomical pathology procedures in assigned areas

Sterling Medical is seeking experienced Histology Technician for the VA Maine Healthcare System in Augusta, ME.
WORKSITE: VA Maine Healthcare System, 1 VA Center Augusta, ME 04330
Schedule: Monday – Friday 6:00 am – 2:00 pm shift ONLY (no Nights, Weekends, or Holidays)
Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in a related field.

Minimum three (3) years of recent Histology and Cytology experience.
