Sterling Medical is looking for full-time seeking full-time Sterile Processing Technician at the Aurora, Colorado, VA Medical Center.

Job Type: Full-time

Positions may be assigned with rotating shifts, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and will be determined by the VA Medical Center.

Overtime may be requested on rare occasions.

Sterile Processing Technicians should possess at least two years of recent experience as a Sterile Processing Service Technician.

Must possess either a HSPA Certification or a CBSPD Certification.

Additionally, the Sterile Processing Technician must possess at least a high school education.

The SPS technician will provide support within the Sterile Processing Department. The SPS technician staff will reprocess reusable medical equipment for Dental, Ear Nose & Throat (ENT) clinic, Gastroenterology (GI) and Operating Room (OR) Departments that are inclusive of decontamination, preparing instruments inclusive of sets/kits for sterilization and the transport of instruments to and from the Dental, ENT, GI and OR Departments.

Job Requirements:

  • Package dental instruments for sterilization
  • Assemble and sterilize surgical instruments insuring instruments
  • Manage the decontamination, processing and sterilization of surgical instrumentation
  • Requested for sterile and non-sterile equipment and supplies
  • Dispensing sterile products, and non-sterile equipment and supplies
  • Scan and distribute sterile, non-sterile items/supplies
  • Keep record of sterile supplies
  • Understand principles of sterilization techniques and operate sterilization equipment
  • Dispense products requested for sterile and non-sterile equipment and supplies
  • Maintain proper storage of sterile and non-sterile supplies and equipment
  • Clean and sterilize all surgical instruments
  • Perform the internal/ external processing and sterilization of surgical and non-surgical grade instruments and equipment
  • Assemble and evaluate all surgical instruments and instrument sets to ensure proper sterilization
  • Direct sterile processing staff regarding proper sterilization techniques and use of equipment
  • Maintain adequate supplies for the sterile processing area
  • Provide the best possible results in the processing and sterilization of surgical instruments and equipment
  • Pass instruments through washers for further decontamination
  • Respond to requests for sterile instruments and supplies
  • Sterilize instruments, medical supplies and equipment
  • Ensure quality and consistency for sterilization of instruments
