Sterling Medical is looking for a Victim Advocate for the

39th Air Base Wing

At Incirlik Air Base, Turkey

On call is required for this position.

Qualifications:

Education:

Bachelor's Degree in Social work, Psychology, Marriage, Family and Child Counseling, Counseling, or Behavioral Science, Criminal Justice or another related field.

License:
Current, unrestricted license to practice as a Registered Nurse in one of (50) fifty states District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, Guam, or the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Certification:

Must have current BLS (Basic Life Support), for Health Care Provider by American Heart Association (AHA), American Red Cross (ARC)

Experience:

  • (2) Two Years experience assisting and providing Advocacy Services to victims of domestic abuse, or sexual assault.
  • Must be willing to obtain within 6 months of hire the Basic Advocate credential designation of the Comprehensive Intervention Specialist as approved and offered by the National Advocate Credentialing Program overseen by the National Organization for Victim Assistance.


Job Requirements:

Domestic Abuse Victim Advocate (DAVA) shall perform duties to include, but not limited to those listed below:

1. Provides 24 hour/7days a week response to victims alleging DA by publishing and maintaining an emergency contact number via cell phone provided by vendor.

2. Establish a Victim’s Safety Plan on a case-by-case basis. Partners with the FATM and FAIS or mental health on-call provider if the treatment or case manager is unavailable, to establish safety plans. The victim’s safety plan is DAVA’s top responsibility and priority. The DAVA will review the Safety Plan during each victim contact.

3. Develops safety plans based on initial and ongoing risk assessments. If imminent risk of serious harm or death is established, notify the FAO, law enforcement, and the command. If children are involved, the process also includes child physical safety and emotional well-being: refer involved children to treatment or case manager for follow-on care.

4. Immediately reports any changes in the victim’s circumstances that change or impacts the safety plan to the FAP treatment/case manager or mental health on-call provider if the treatment/case manager is unavailable. When determining whether a victim is at imminent risk of serious harm or death, the DAVA will assess the situation.

5. Advises victims of the military or civil rights actions available to promote safety (e.g., military order of protection, restraining order and injunction).
