Job Requirements of Sterile Processing Technician:
Qualifications:
Education:
- Minimum of High School diploma or GED Equivalent
Skills required:
• Knowledge of
o Surgical instruments used in operating rooms and clinic settings
o Event-related packaging regarding sterility
o Sterilization and cleaning equipment
o Universal precautions for safety and prevention of cross contamination
• Basic Knowledge of
o Medical terminology to assemble specialty operating room/clinic instrument sets
o Basic understanding of basic principles of microbiology as they apply to medical supply operations, especially as they relate to resistance of microorganisms to external destructive agents such as heat, chemicals and ionizing radiation.
• Working understanding of anatomy and physiology to understand how the instrumentation is used and can make educated instrument substitutions as necessary in the instrument trays, or on an emergency basis, make suggestions to the clinical staff of equivalent, acceptable instruments.
Experience:
- • 2 years MIN of Sterile Processing Experience
Certification: Must have either-
- • HSPA Certification OR CBSPD Certification
Must also have a current BLS certification

Sterling Medical is currently looking for
Sterile Processing Technicians
For VA Eastern Colorado Health Care
At the Veterans Affairs Medical Center
In Aurora, CO
Hours:
Monday-Friday
Positions may be assigned with rotating shifts, including evenings, weekends, holidays-
will be determined by the specific Medical Center at time of Service and any other day declared by executive order of the President of the U.S.
Not limited to any shift; can include weekends and holidays.
Required Hours:
(8) eight hour shifts
Overtime may be requested on rare occasions.
Competitive Rate; Compensation depends on experience.
Relocation Assistance for candidates living greater than 50 miles out of the Aurora, CO area.
